AN ANNOUNCEMENT FROM OAKLEY PARISH COUNCIL

MADE ON 15th september 2021

WE ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT OAKLEY PARISH COUNCIL HAVE SECURED A PUBLIC WORKS LOAN TO BUY THE CHANDOS ARMS!

MANY THANKS TO ALL THE PARISH COUNCILLORS AND ALASTAIR JONES (“TAFF”) FOR ALL THE WORK DONE. A SPECIAL MENTION TO JO GREY, FOR THE “OVER AND ABOVE” HARD WORK AND COMMITTMENT SHE HAS PUT IN.

THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT THE SELLER PUNCH TAVERNS ARE HAPPY WITH OUR PROGRESS AND WE ARE LOOKING TO EXCHANGE CONTRACTS BY THE END OF THE MONTH.

WHILST, IN GRAND NATIONAL TERMS, WE ARE OVER THE CHAIR AND BEECHERS BROOK, THERE ARE STILL A LOT OF FENCES TO JUMP. AS ANYONE WHO HAS BOUGHT A HOUSE WILL KNOW, IT IS NOT ALWAYS A STRAIGHTFORWARD PROCESS. THERE IS A LOT STILL TO DO AND A LOT THAT STILL COULD DELAY US. LICENSING, LEGAL WORK/SOLICITORS, VAT SET-UP INSURANCES, VILLAGE NOTIFICATIONS, LOAN PAPERWORK ETC ETC.,

THERE WILL BE AN OPEN VILLAGE MEETING TO GET TOGETHER PEOPLE INTERESTED IN FORMING THE COMMUNITY BENEFIT SOCIETY (CBS) WHICH WILL ADMINISTER THE CHANDOS FOR THE PARISH COUNCIL. WE WILL ALSO BE LOOKING FOR QUOTES FOR THEREFURBISHMENT PLANNED IN JAN/FEB 2022.

WE ARE GETTING THERE !
